Hi, I’m Laurie — mom, wife, and co-founder of Bite Back Tick & Mosquito Control.

Back in 2011, Ron and I moved our young family into our dream home in Manalapan, New Jersey. We imagined summer barbecues, kids running barefoot through the grass, and long evenings outside catching fireflies.

Instead, we discovered something many New Jersey homeowners deal with every year:

• Mosquito bites every time we stepped outside
• Constant worry about Lyme disease

Our backyard had a stream nearby, which meant traditional pest companies refused to spray near the waterline. The only options they offered were harsh chemical pesticides.

That was a deal-breaker for us.

We refused to saturate our yard with chemicals that could harm our children, our pets, pollinators, or the environment.

2020: When a 12-Year-Old Decided to Solve the Problem

Fast forward to the spring of 2020. While the world was shutting down during the pandemic, ticks and mosquitoes were thriving across New Jersey.

Our daughter Lauren — who has always loved science — looked at me one day and said something that would change everything.

“Mom, I think I can create something that works… but won’t hurt the dogs, bees, butterflies, or our stream.”

She began researching essential oils known to repel ticks and mosquitoes naturally.

Soon our garage turned into a mini laboratory.

Lauren studied and experimented with plant-based oils including:

The Family Test Team

Our whole family became part of the testing process.

Ron became the official sprayer. Our sons Ron Jr. and Ryan were in charge of tick checks. Our dog Riley supervised everything.

And then something amazing happened.

The ticks disappeared. Mosquitoes stopped swarming. Our yard smelled fresh instead of chemical. For the first time in years, our kids could play outside freely again.

Ron began mixing additional batches and helping a few nearby families treat their yards using the same natural formula Lauren developed.

Our mission was simple:

We purchased our first truck, wrapped it with Lauren’s butterfly design, and began providing natural mosquito and tick treatments throughout New Jersey.
