New Jersey Tick & Mosquito Control FAQs
Answers to the most common questions New Jersey homeowners ask before choosing an all-natural tick and mosquito control program.
These FAQs cover service areas, scheduling, treatment zones, seasonal pressure, safety, weather, and what to expect from Bite Back.
How do I know if you service my town?
Use the county jump links above and open the “All towns we serve” dropdown for your county. If your town is listed, you are in our normal New Jersey service area. If you are close to one of our listed towns, near a county border, or in a newer development that may not be obvious on a map, request a quote and we will confirm coverage for your exact address.
Do you service every town in New Jersey?
Bite Back serves most of New Jersey, with coverage organized by county and town on this page. Some scheduling depends on route density, property location, and seasonal demand. The fastest way to confirm service is to submit your address through the quote form so we can match it to the right route.
How quickly can I get scheduled?
Bite Back operates out of Manalapan, NJ and serves most of New Jersey. Same-week scheduling is available for many counties during the active season, especially when we already have a nearby route open. During peak spring and early summer demand, scheduling can take longer based on route availability, weather, and your location.
Do you offer separate tick-only or mosquito-only treatments?
No. Bite Back provides one combined tick and mosquito control program because New Jersey yards usually have overlapping pressure. Ticks and mosquitoes use many of the same shaded, damp, protected areas, including tree lines, landscape beds, under decks, fence lines, and brush edges. A combined program keeps the schedule simpler and gives the yard more complete seasonal coverage.
What makes Bite Back different from traditional mosquito and tick companies?
Bite Back focuses on an all-natural, essential-oil based program with no synthetic pesticides. We do not treat the yard like a chemical blanket. Our technicians focus on the high-pressure zones that drive activity, including shade, moisture, dense vegetation, under-deck areas, fence lines, and property edges. The goal is targeted, consistent protection across the season.
What happens during a typical visit?
A Bite Back technician reviews the property, looks for the areas most likely to hold ticks and mosquitoes, and treats the zones that matter most. That usually includes shaded foliage, groundcover, brush lines, fence edges, mulch beds, under decks, steps, wood piles, and damp areas. The technician can also report findings when appropriate so you understand what is happening in your yard.
How fast is a typical visit?
Most visits are efficient because the treatment is targeted. Timing depends on yard size, landscaping density, access, gates, terrain, and how many hot zones are present. The important part is not how long the technician is on the property, but whether the right areas are inspected and treated thoroughly.
Why don’t you focus on spraying the middle of the lawn?
Open lawn is usually not where most tick and mosquito pressure begins. Ticks are more likely to be found along edges, brush, leaf litter, tall vegetation, and wildlife travel routes. Mosquitoes rest in shaded, protected areas during the day and breed around standing water. Targeting those zones is more strategic than simply spraying open grass.
How often should a New Jersey yard be treated?
Most New Jersey yards need consistent seasonal service because pressure changes in waves. Tick activity can begin early in spring, mosquitoes build as temperatures and humidity rise, and adult deer ticks can remain active into fall. Bite Back’s seasonal program is designed around regular visits so pressure does not rebound between treatments.
When is tick and mosquito pressure highest in New Jersey?
Pressure usually begins building in April and May as deer tick nymphs become active. Mosquito pressure typically rises from June through August with heat, humidity, rain, and shaded resting areas. In September and October, adult deer ticks can surge again and may remain active on warm days into November.
Is Bite Back safe for kids and pets?
Bite Back is designed for families who care about what is sprayed in their yard. Our program uses all-natural essential-oil blends with no synthetic pesticides. As with any yard treatment, we recommend following the technician’s instructions, allowing the application to settle before normal yard use, and letting us know about pets, play areas, vegetable gardens, sensitive areas, or special concerns before service.
What about bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects?
Our approach is focused on where ticks and mosquitoes hide, not on blooming plants or pollinator activity. Many customers choose Bite Back specifically because they want a more thoughtful yard program. If you have bee hives, pollinator gardens, butterfly habitats, vegetable gardens, or sensitive plantings, tell us before service so the technician can note those areas.
What should I do before my appointment?
Please make sure gates are unlocked, pets are inside, and the technician has any gate codes or access notes needed to enter the treatment areas. It also helps to remove toys, small items, or obstacles from high-use areas when possible. If there are areas you want us to avoid or inspect closely, reply to the appointment reminder or text us before the visit.
What happens if it rains?
Weather matters, and our team watches conditions closely. Light rain and normal moisture are part of the New Jersey season, but heavy rain, unsafe conditions, or weather that interferes with the quality of the visit may require rescheduling. If weather affects the route, we will communicate as needed.
Can you help if my yard backs up to woods, wetlands, or open space?
Yes. Wooded edges, wetlands, retention areas, fields, and wildlife corridors are some of the most common reasons a property has heavier pressure. Those yards often benefit most from a consistent seasonal program because pests can keep migrating in from surrounding areas.
What if I’m near a county border?
County lines do not always match how neighborhoods, routes, and service areas work. If you are near a border, request a quote and we will confirm your address. We may already be servicing nearby homes even if the town sits close to another county.
Do you service Long Island too?
Yes, Bite Back serves New Jersey first and also services select areas of Long Island, NY. This page is focused on New Jersey coverage, but you can use the New York service area link on the page if you are looking for Long Island service.
How do I get the most accurate quote?
Use the quote form and provide the property address, basic yard details, and any notes about woods, standing water, pets, gates, gardens, or problem areas. The more accurate the property information is, the easier it is for us to confirm service, route availability, and the right seasonal plan.
